Mnemonic

Haru (春) marks the start of Japan's four seasons and also the new school year / fiscal year (April) — the "April reset" cultural code is far stronger than in Korea or China (which start in March or September). The sakura (cherry blossom) lexical field is nearly synonymous with haru — full bloom, scatter, hanami (flower viewing) form the seasonal vocab cluster. Haru-ichiban (the first strong southerly storm after risshun) is a weather-news staple. Homophone alert: haru also means "to paste / stick" (貼る) — disambiguated by kanji and context.
