-er than / the -est
ReglaEl comparativo (-er / more) compara dos; el superlativo (the -est / the most) elige uno entre tres o más.
Curiosidad
¿bigger o biggest? ¿more careful o most careful? ¿Cuándo -er y cuándo more?
Palabras cortas: -er/-est; largas: more/most.
The new modelis more efficient thanthe old one
Esencia
Una sílaba → -er/-est (fast → faster → fastest). Tres o más → more/most (expensive). Irregulares: good/better/best, bad/worse/worst. "the" antes del superlativo. Un doble comparativo (more faster) es incorrecto.
Ejemplos
The new printer is faster than the old one.
This is the most reliable supplier we have.
Sales were higher this quarter than last quarter.
