Mnemonic

Tsugi (次) is the noun "next" — covers both time and order. Tsugi no eki (next station, spatial sequence), tsugi no kikai (next opportunity, time), tsugi no hito (next person, queue). Kanji 次 = 冫 (ice) + 欠 (lack / next) — meaning "the following turn." Tsugitsugi to (one after another) is a repetitive adverb — tsugitsugi to mondai ga okoru (problems pop up one after another). Formal Sino-Japanese cluster: jikai (next time / round), tsugi no dankai (next stage), shidai (depending on). Watch shidai polysemy: gochuumon shidai (depending on order), jijou shidai de (depending on circumstances), shidai ni (gradually, adverb). Korean "da-eum / cha-rye / cha-cha" parallels.
