Mnemonic
Owaru (終わる) is a godan verb covering both intransitive ("to end / to finish on its own") and limited transitive ("to bring to an end"). Kaigi ga owaru (the meeting ends) and kaigi o owaru (end the meeting) coexist; for forced agency use kaigi o owaraseru (causative). Formal: shuuryou (termination), kanryou (completion). Closing phrases: "kore de oshimai" (that's the end), "osaki ni shitsurei shimasu" (leaving the office first). The single character 終 fills the screen at the end of classic Japanese films. Korean kkeutnada / kkeutnaeda splits the role, but Japanese gives owaru both functions plus an extra forced-causative layer.
