Mnemonic

来る kuru — one of the two truly irregular Japanese verbs (with する). The kanji 来 takes THREE different readings depending on conjugation: 来ます kimasu, 来ない konai, 来た kita, 来て kite, 来られる korareru. Memorize the whole table — pattern matching won't help.
