"appointment"=예약. 처음이면 "I’m a new patient"(초진)이라고 알린다. 급하면 "as soon as possible".

"check in"=접수(도착 등록). 예약 시간과 의사 이름을 함께 말하면 빠르다. 접수처는 "front desk / reception".

증상은 "I have / I’ve had + 증상 + for + 기간"으로 사실만 말한다. 시작 시점(since Monday)도 도움이 된다.

아픈 곳은 가리키며 "right here". 통증 표현: "sharp"(찌르는)·"dull"(둔한)·"throbbing"(욱신). 강도는 1~10으로 묻는다.

"the wait"=대기 시간. 진료받다 = "to be seen". 차례를 부르면 "call your name".

가기 전에요, 학교에 낼 진단서 받을 수 있어요?
"doctor’s note / sick note"=병가·결석 증빙. 정식 진단서는 "medical certificate". 발급에 수수료가 붙기도 한다.
