鶏肉を切ってみたら、中心が少し生焼けです。
「a little」を入れると遠回しになる。逆は overcooked(焼きすぎ)。
I’m sorry, but there’s a hair in my food.
申し訳ないのですが、料理に髪の毛が入っています。
He set down his fork and whispered, "There’s a hair in my food."
彼はフォークを置いて「料理に髪の毛が入っています」と小声で言った。
たいてい作り直しか取り消しになる。静かに店員に伝えればよい。
When you have a sec, could we get some more water?
手が空いたときに、お水のおかわりをもらえますか?
The kids are thirsty — could we get some more water over here?
子どもが喉が渇いていて、こちらにお水のおかわりをもらえますか?
「Could we get~」は店で何かを追加で頼む丁寧な型。
I’m full — could I get a to-go box for the rest?
お腹いっぱいで、残りを持ち帰り用の容器にもらえますか?
This pasta is too much for one meal — could I get a to-go box?
このパスタは一食には多すぎるので、持ち帰り用の容器をもらえますか?
アメリカは「to-go box」「doggy bag」、イギリスは「takeaway box」とも。
That was great — could we split the bill evenly?
ごちそうさま。割り勘にできますか?
It’s a big group, so could we split the bill three ways?
大人数なので、三等分で割り勘にできますか?
「split the bill」は総額を分ける。各自の分なら separate checks。
We’re paying on our own cards — can we get separate checks?

注文時に先に伝えると、店員が対応しやすい。

アメリカは「check」、イギリスは「bill」。サインの仕草でも通じる。
