endure

/ɪnˈdjʊər/·인듀어·verb
to bear; to last
LatinCEFR B2
Root
en- (in, make) + Latin 'durare' (to last, harden)
Latin indurare (harden) → Old French endurer → English endure (14th c.)
In a word

en- (in) + dure (harden) = 'to harden within'. When weight presses from outside, you harden inside and stay — that is endure. If durable is "a thing that lasts," endure is "the act of lasting through." Same root, one branch became an adjective, the other a verb.
