ゆっくり yukkuri — slowly, at ease, without hurry — an orthodox mimetic word. 温泉でゆっくり — in a land where over 27,000 springs well up, the unhurried loosening of the body. "Yukkuri o-sugoshi kudasai" is the polite line a ryokan or restaurant hands a guest. ゆっくり食べる makes a virtue of chewing slowly, and スローライフ, settled in since the 2000s, spreads that grain into country living.
