Mnemonic

Miru — 見る, to see. Stem "mi" + verb ending "ru." The kanji 見 lives in Korean "kyeon" — opinion (uigyeon), discovery (balgyeon). But the sound "mi" itself is Yamato. The character: eye (目) atop legs (儿) — the shape of seeing. To see is the most basic verb of sense, in Japanese as elsewhere. A seegongsik measure — noticing what you see is where learning begins.
