ジュース — juusu, a loanword from English "juice". Written in katakana. A loanword's meaning can drift away from the source ── ジュース is the textbook case ── English juice: only a drink squeezed from fruit. Japanese ジュース: any non-alcoholic beverage ── soda, soft drinks, fruit juice all included. A vending machine files even コーラ (cola) under 'ジュース類'.
