増やす fuyasu — kanji 増 + the godan ending やす. Transitive: someone increases something (object marked with を). Its intransitive partner is 増える (fueru). The ~yasu transitive / ~eru intransitive split is yet another verb-pair pattern. It is the exact opposite of 減らす (herasu, to reduce).
