Sentence structure
Key sentences split into meaning units, showing the role of each part.
The form "verb + naide" means "without doing / do not (do), and," softly linking to the following action as a manner or prohibition: "ofuro ni hairanaide yasunde kudasai" = please rest without taking a bath. The sentence-final "~te kudasai" is a polite request. The adverb "yukkuri" modifies the verb "yasumu."
The form "verb + te kara" expresses sequence: "after doing": "matte kara yobaremashita" = after waiting, I was called. "yobaremashita" is the passive of "yobu" (to call), and the agent is marked by the particle "ni" (isha ni = by the doctor). Japanese passive takes the shape "... ni ... (ra)reru."
