Mnemonic

果物 kudamono — kanji "fruit (果) + thing (物)". Japanese has three layers for "fruit": (1) native 果物 (kudamono), (2) loanword フルーツ (furuutsu), (3) Sino-Japanese 果実 (kajitsu, formal/scientific). Same referent, different register. Menus prefer フルーツ for chicness, markets prefer 果物 for warmth, nutrition science uses 果実. Register awareness underlies natural-sounding N3+ output.
