Mnemonic

木 ki-tree — ① living tree ② wood (material). Separate slug from 気 ki-spirit (batch 7) under v1.1 A-2. The kanji is heavily reused as a radical: 林 hayashi (small forest = two 木) and 森 mori (large forest = three 木). Excellent example of visual kanji logic.

Quick check

  1. Two 木 combined make which kanji?
