Mnemonic

今朝 kesa — 今 (now) + 朝 (morning). The expected onyomi would be konchou but the word is fixed as the irregular reading kesa — like ototoi and ashita, one of those vocabulary items where you memorise the reading separately from the kanji parts. Same family of "today's X" with irregular readings: 今晩 konban, 今夜 kon'ya, 今年 kotoshi.
