Mnemonic

稳 wěn "steady, stable" + 重 zhòng "weighty": stable and weighty, i.e. steady and composed. Korean renders it as "composed, steady, dignified". It describes a person whose words and conduct are calm, unflighty and prudent (为人稳重 steady in character, 成熟稳重 mature and composed). Unlike 庄重 (solemn, formal), 稳重 leans toward calm prudence (the opposite of rashness). 稳 means "stable" (稳定, 平稳); 重 means "weighty" (重要, 沉重).
