Mnemonic

收 shōu "to take in" + 支 zhī "to pay out": income that comes in and expenditure that goes out, i.e. balance of income and expenditure. Same as the Korean word su-ji (收支). It pairs the antonyms 收 "take in" and 支 "pay out" to span all money in and out (收支平衡 a balanced budget). 收 means "to take in" (收入, 收获); 支 means "to pay out" (支出, 支付). It views income and expenditure together.
