Mnemonic

设 shè "to set up, suppose" + 想 xiǎng "to think": to set up in the mind and think, i.e. to envision, to imagine, to suppose. Korean renders it as "to envision, imagine, suppose". Picturing in the mind something not yet realized (美好设想 a fine vision, 大胆设想 a bold idea). Used as both verb and noun. Nearly the same as 构想, but 设想 also carries the sense of supposing (请设想一下 just suppose). 设 means "to set up, suppose" (假设, 设计); 想 means "to think" (想象, 思想).
