破 pò "to break" + 产 chǎn "property": a Sino-Korean word "to go bankrupt". One’s property (产) breaks (破), i.e. collapses under unpayable debt. A separable verb, splitting as 破了产. 宣告破产 (to declare bankruptcy), 破产清算 (bankruptcy liquidation). Opposite of 致富 (to grow rich).
