判 pàn "to judge, decide" + 决 jué "to decide": to judge right from wrong and decide, i.e. a verdict, a judgment. Same as the Korean word pan-gyeol (判決). The final decision a court renders in a lawsuit (作出判决 to render a verdict, 法院判决 a court judgment). The trial outcome that comes last, after 起诉 (prosecution) and 辩护 (defense). 判 means "to judge" (判断, 裁判); 决 means "to decide" (决定, 决断). The endpoint of the trial flow.
