论 lùn "to discuss, argue" + 证 zhèng "to prove": to argue and prove, i.e. argumentation, to demonstrate. Same as the Korean word non-jeung (論證). Logically showing a claim to be right by adducing grounds and evidence (充分论证 sufficient argumentation, 用数据论证 to argue with data). Where 推理 draws a conclusion, 论证 focuses on proving a claim’s validity with grounds. 论 means "to discuss" (论述, 议论); 证 means "to prove, evidence" (证明, 证据). Paired with 求证.
