Mnemonic
结 jié "to tie, settle" + 账 zhàng "account, ledger": to close out the account, i.e. to settle the bill, to check out. Korean renders it as "to settle the bill, to pay". Paying for what one ate or bought at a restaurant or shop (吃完饭去结账 to settle the bill after eating). 账 is the ledger of money (账号, 账单); do not confuse it with 帐 "curtain"; for money use 账. 结 means "to tie, conclude" (结束, 结婚). It connects with 买单 and 付款.
