讲 jiǎng "to lecture" + 座 zuò "seat": a Sino-Korean word "lecture, course". The setting (座) where lecturing (讲) takes place, i.e. a talk on a specific topic. 举办讲座 (to hold a lecture), 公开讲座 (a public lecture). Closer to a one-off talk than 课程 (a regular curriculum). Akin to 演讲 (a speech) and 报告 (a presentation).
