家 jiā "home, family" + 居 jū "to live, dwell": living at home and its environment, i.e. home life, the living space, "home" (interior). Korean renders it as "home life, dwelling, home interior". It covers life, household and interior within the home (家居用品 household goods, 家居风格 home style, 智能家居 smart home). Unlike the abstract 家庭 (family), it leans toward the living space and household. 居 means "to dwell" (居住, 居民); 家 means "home".
