夺 duó "to snatch, wrest" + 取 qǔ "to take": to snatch and take, i.e. to seize, to capture, to win. Same as the Korean word tal-chwi (奪取). Taking by force (夺取政权 to seize power) or grasping through effort (夺取胜利 to win victory). 夺 means "to snatch" (掠夺 to plunder, 争夺 to scramble for); 取 means "to take" (获取 to obtain).
