Mnemonic

传 chuán "to transmit" + 递 dì "to hand over": to hand on in turn, i.e. to pass, to relay. Korean renders it as "to pass, relay". Used of handing from one to the next, step by step (传递火炬 the torch relay). Unlike 传达 (to convey downward), 传递 is closer to passing an object or signal along in turn. 递 means "to hand over, in sequence" (递交 to submit, 快递 courier).
