崇 chóng "to revere, exalt" + 敬 jìng "to respect": to exalt and respect, i.e. to revere, to hold in reverence. Korean renders it as "reverence, deep respect". Sincerely looking up to and respecting someone of high character or achievement (崇敬之情 a feeling of reverence, 令人崇敬 worthy of reverence). Unlike 崇拜 (worship with bowing), 崇敬 is closer to heartfelt respect (not blind). 敬 means "to respect" (尊敬, 敬礼); 崇 means "to exalt".
