财 cái "wealth, money" + 政 zhèng "governance, affairs": the governance of money, i.e. public finance, fiscal affairs. Same as the Korean word jae-jeong (財政). The state’s or government’s management of taking in and spending money (财政收入 fiscal revenue, 财政支出 fiscal spending, 财政赤字 fiscal deficit). Unlike 财务 (the money management of individuals or firms), 财政 is used for state or public finance. 财 means "wealth, money" (财富, 财产); 政 means "governance" (政府, 政策).
